Couldn't resist such a bargain over the weekend, I figured that, as a gamer, I shoud really be collecting the different gaming systems (really regret selling my Mega Drive II and Mega CD II).

New Pixie Lott Sims R4 theme

Image
After downloading the R4 SDHC kernel through Happybox and being stuck with 12 themes all the same, I thought I'd make one to replace them as I only use one for a long period of time and don't really swap and change every month. As I'm a music fan and like Pixie Lott , also being a big fan of The Sims meant that the picture of her holding her Sim character was ideal for my new theme. The colours featured in the theme are based from the logo colours of greens and blues and after testing it out for a while, I think it works rather well. Just not too sure which section it should go in, Female Music Artists or Games... so I put it in FMA .

Get yer motor running...

I like free games. I like driving/racing games. Put them together and you have TrackMania Nations Forever which is available for free from Steam. This post is the first in a series of TrackMania Nations Forever videos and since each section (White, Green, Blue etc races) contains 15 tracks, the posts will be broken up into 5 videos each. I probably could have just put them all together in one continuous video, but kept them separate mainly for reference of each track.

Unpacking and setting up R4 SDHC

After not being able to use my R4DS for some time due to kids taking over possession, I thought it would be best to invest in an R4 SDHC so that I can use my 4GB Micro SD card with my backed up stuff on which includes a bunch of apps, pics and other bits and bobs. [gallery link="file" columns="4"] The box is about half the size of the old R4 one and the adapter is different to the one I had before, still got a protective case which I've never used or seen the need to use since the cart is in the DS most of the time anyway and as a bonus, I added a pic of my Micro SD card which is the one I'll be using. Now here's a vid of how to set it up... Sorry, I can't provide any technical advice or give anymore detail that's already provided, I try to cover as much as possible by taking things step by step, if it doesn't work for you, I have no explanation... The video shows that what I do works (except the DSKiosk ROM launching which I admit ...

Mega HSM3 DS bargain!

Image
Had a look on the GAME website last night (would've posted this last night too, but WP.com wasn't loading properly for me) and saw this great deal for High School Musical 3: Senior Year on the Nintendo DS ... The price has now gone up to £6.99 for some reason, but the RRP and save info is still the same ratio.

Hello Kitty R4DS themes

Image
I mainly made these for my youngest daughter who had a new red DS for Xmas, they're not that spectacular, but are ok if you're a bit of a Hello Kitty fan. This one features Hello Kitty holding a DS and was a promo image for the game, Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams . The red theme is just made from an image found on a Google/Bing search. Kitty is a little similar to in the 'white' theme, but the top seems teal instead of blue. Not too sure which category these would fall under, so they're going on the Game Character page.

New R4 themes... what? You heard me!

Image
After literally 2 years, I've made 2 more themes for the R4DS. A comment mentioned a hentai sakura model, well after a quick Google search, I found an image that is usable. I don't do porn, nude or anything considered 18+ (R for US people) rated, so if you're looking for something more adult, you won't find it here, all live models are wearing something, even if it is just a bikini. You can find this Hentai Haruno Sakura theme on the Manga/Anime page. A theme featuring Sakura Shiratori can be found on the Babe Skins page. And there you go, I'll try not to leave it another 2 years to make some more, just need to think of a subject to base them on.

Xmas No.1's .. and Jack Thompson .. and breasts

Image
Well it seems the 'race' for the Xmas No.1 music-wise was won by Rage Against the Machine, not really that much of a surprise since it was on sale for quite a while before X Factor winner Joe McElderry and yet, RATM seemed to only win by about 50,000. Maybe if they'd have been released at the same time, they may not have won and Joe would be number one in the charts, I'm not bothered either way since I like RATM and already have the song due to having their album with it in.

DSTT setup with Moonshell

I have an R4DS card, obviously, since I've done so many posts about it and even got a load of themes available to download, but I recently got a DSTT card since quite a few other people wanted one and because of saving money due to bulk buying and charging people a bit more for the card (plus a 2GB MicroSD card), I pretty much got mine for free. Anyway, I was bored earlier today and decided to make a quick video on how to set it up (basically just transferring the firmware files onto the card), adding Moonshell (same thing) and putting a video file on. If you want to see the full widescreen version of the vid, click on the vid to go to the YouTube page.

R4 1.16 Kernel released already

After only 5 weeks of v1.15 being released, v1.16 has been released. Update R4 v1.16 kernel 2008-2-19 1)Solved the 1958 problem It's apparently to do with Miami Nights - Singles in the City (US) not working. To download the update, click here .

New DS homebrew stuff

Just a couple of things I thought might be of interest to some of you DS homebrewers out there. The first is Pocket Physics, something you may have seen before on YouTube called Crayon Physics , but the DS version has been updated to 0.4 and is available to download from the official site . The second thing is that Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe has been released on the DS, but is still in Alpha stage, details of that can be found on the OTTD forums .

R4 Kernel 1.15

It's been out for a little while now, but not many appeared to have announced it. Update R4 v1.15 kernel 2008-1-8 1)Solved the 1905 problem The problem is to do with Luxor - Pharaohs Challenge, but as said by Pilot_51 in the DCemu forums : Why are they only fixing problems with licensed games? They're promoting piracy that way which in turn harms the homebrew community. I mean the last 4 releases only fixed one licensed game per release and did nothing else. If they would at least do something else with the patches like add the SDHC compatibility they promised something like 3 months ago, I wouldn't have such a problem with it. As much as I like my R4, this is making me want to stop promoting R4 and find something else that puts the focus on homebrew. Which is true, instead of just fixing problems with 'backups', lets try and focus on what the R4 is supposed to be about, homebrew. Anyway, to download the latest update, click here .

M3 Simply updated to 1.08

It seems my box.net account has ran out of bandwidth, that's 10GB of bandwidth used in 3 weeks, so I've registered at DivShare which apparently gives me unlimited space and bandwidth... DivShare members get an amazing deal — unlimited storage and data transfer for free. All your files stay online forever, and you'll never have to pay to access them. Sounds great to me and just what I need for all you hungry downloaders of my R4DS stuff. ;) I'm guessing that the M3 1.08 update is the same as the R4DS one, a fix for the 1368 save. You can download it from my even newer MediaFire account , which I created in the event that DivShare closes down or whatever.

R4DS Kernel v1.12 released

Ah well, might as well forget about the 'post-per-day' thing, I'll just blog whenever I need to. Not a major update... Update R4 v1.12 kernel 2007-11-21 1)Solved the 1368 save problem. Since the official site is quite slow for downloading, you can get it here which should be quicker.

A Wii shortage

Nintendo are going to lose Xmas. You'd think that by now, there would be 1000's of Wii's on their way to stores ready to be plonked up on the shelves to be sold to the awaiting public ... no. DS's are plentiful and you can get one pretty much everywhere, but if you're after a Wii, you'll be lucky to get one before Xmas. Many will be making a big profit on eBay because of the lack of retail units since it's hard to find anywhere that has them in stock. It's bad that they can't supply the demand, meaning that people will either opt for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and with the way shop staff are trained, they'll be trying to push the PS3 onto people which doesn't have many good games instead of the Xbox 360. In my personal opinion, the Xbox 360 would be a better choice since it already has a mass catalogue of games that include the almighty Halo 3, Crackdown, Dead Rising, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage and the long awaited Assassin's Creed. It a...

DSOrganize 3.1 released

I was going to post about this last night, but it would have spoilt my 'post-per-day' thing that I've accidentally stumbled upon here. I didn't realise until around the 5th or 6th that I'd made one post per day so far this month, so to keep up that momentum, here is today's post. DSOrganize 3.1 has been released. Fixes found in 3.1 Added support for attachment style downloads (usually download.php style). Added deflate and gzip encoding support to web browser. Added letter view mode to the picture viewer. Added optional click noise to keyboards. Added many more special character tags like è etc to web browser. Changed large font to Arial 13 from Century 16 to be more consistent. Fixed download filenames being badly named when longer filenames were downloaded beforehand. Fixed "Removing invalid lfn entry" error in FAT after deleting a file. Fixed "Invalid file size on entry" error in FAT after creating a new empty file. Fixed "...

Non-working ROMs

It appears that there are at least 2 DS ROMs that need the 'arm-7 fix', what that does is patch the ROM to enable you to play it. I won't discuss which ROMs need patching as it's obvious that they're illegal copyrighted ROMs and I won't (or even can't) help you with any of the procedure, I'm just passing on information. From loathsome in the GBAtemp forums: THE ARM7-FIX What? A few dumped roms today comes with a new kind of protection, commonly referred to as the "arm7-protection". If you try to load a protected rom on some flash carts (R4, DS-X, G6 etc.), you will receive an error that tells you that something went wrong with your save file (or equivalent) and you will not be able to play the dumped rom. In this thread, you'll learn how to crack these roms by yourself, bypassing this protection. If your game won't start and gives you an error message about saving data, you most likely need the arm7-fix. A hacked arm7.bin file can be d...
