Pretty exciting TV

I don't normally blog about TV unless it really is something I want to mention and this week has been pretty exciting. Chuck - Sarah, who does she answer? Bit of a cliffhanger with this one, does she go off for adventure and excitement with Bryce or stay and protect Chuck?! Find out next time! Bones - "The moment you've been waiting 3 years for!" Major fanatics have wanted Bones and Booth to get it on for ages, although nothing serious happens, it's one hell of a passionate kiss. And what's with the Christmas episode already? House MD - YES! OH YES! Cut-throat bitch iiiiiiiiiiiiiis oooooutta here! And about time too. If there's one character in a TV program I disliked, it was her. She was almost gone last week, but now the decent thing has been done and she's finally been fired. Glad 13 is being kept though, she be babe!

Need for Porn ProStreet

You've probably heard about the apparent 'porn' advertising that EA did for Need for Speed: ProStreet, well, all it featured were a couple of Page 3 models baring their breasts, not sure where the ads were due to be shown, but it's caused a bit of a ruckus in the gaming world, geeks around the world still have boners. Need For Speed: ProStreet Page 3 Promo Uploaded by Mentalaceman See the promo for yourself, there are some bare breasts, so it's not really 'safe for work' (NSFW - Not Safe For Work), enjoy anyway.

Winehouse gets doctors orders

Well, I guess you could say it was inevitable, Amy Winehouse is so messed up, she's cancelled all 2007 gigs to take a rest. A rest from what, who knows. Her husband is in remand for being a knob, which is apparently a reason for her not wanting to do the concerts and she's all fucked up from drink and drugs. Why do people still support her when she's such an emo? A statement issued by concert promoter Live Nation blamed "the rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks" for the decision. Playing HL²

Just to put a post for today, I'm playing Half-Life² and since it's a rather long game, I haven't done anything else today. So here's someone playing it with a Wiimote.

HL² reinstalled

Image
I've had the Collector's Edition of Half-Life² for ages, yet I've only played just under an hours worth of it due to messing around with Garry's Mod more at the time. So, I've decided to reinstall it and start playing it again, I've also installed Half-Life Source to have a go at that since I didn't bother with it before. I didn't bother installing Counter Strike: Source though, as popular as it is, I just don't like it and never played it online, so I'm not going to waste HDD space.

Call of Duty 4 demo

Image
Well, I wasn't sure how well I could run it with a minimum spec graphics card (ATi X700, equivalent to nVidia 6600), but it seems that I could play it with 2xAA and 2xAF (I think it was 2xAF) @ 1024*768, as well as moving a few other settings up a notch too. It would play a lot better at just 800*600, but I was quite surprised at how well it ran. I'm not a particularly big fan of 'war' FPS games, so I won't be buying the full game even though I enjoyed playing the demo. It was good fun and anyone who's a fan of the CoD series will really like it, the main reason I played it was to experience a new PC game, something I haven't done for literally years. My specs are only an Intel Celeron D, 3.20 GHz, ATi Radeon X700 and 2GB of RAM and I managed to play it at above 'optimal' settings, so as long as you have a CPU of 2GHz or over, a graphics card better than an X700 (/nVidia 6600) and plenty of RAM, you should be able to play it! More images, 2 @ 800*600...

Well, that's bloody great isn't it!

Box.net is a good service, but using it for my blog means it gets hit pretty hard and has ran out of bandwidth for this month already. That's why I decided to find another host that could possibly give me a bit more of what I need, I found DivShare and all was good... ...or so I thought until I looked in Google Reader and saw an article from TechCrunch about the owner of DivShare putting it up for sale. Guess I'll have to find another service like DivShare before it goes down/gets sold/crashes and burns/etc. Powered by ScribeFire .

Good old cassettes

Image
Aaah, those were the days where you do almost anything with a cassette. Record any kind of audio through either a hi-fi or portable cassette recorder, even computer games came on cassettes. I recently discovered a site that features old cassettes, but one cassette they don't have on there is the one pictured above, a Fuji metal cassette. The reason for having chrome and metal cassettes was that the quality was supposedly better, but unless you had a pretty high-end system, you wouldn't really tell much difference. If you want to have a look through some old cassettes and bask in the nostalgic wonder, take a look at tapedeck.org .

M3 Simply updated to 1.08

It seems my box.net account has ran out of bandwidth, that's 10GB of bandwidth used in 3 weeks, so I've registered at DivShare which apparently gives me unlimited space and bandwidth... DivShare members get an amazing deal — unlimited storage and data transfer for free. All your files stay online forever, and you'll never have to pay to access them. Sounds great to me and just what I need for all you hungry downloaders of my R4DS stuff. ;) I'm guessing that the M3 1.08 update is the same as the R4DS one, a fix for the 1368 save. You can download it from my even newer MediaFire account , which I created in the event that DivShare closes down or whatever.

R4DS Kernel v1.12 released

Ah well, might as well forget about the 'post-per-day' thing, I'll just blog whenever I need to. Not a major update... Update R4 v1.12 kernel 2007-11-21 1)Solved the 1368 save problem. Since the official site is quite slow for downloading, you can get it here which should be quicker.

Futurama is back baby!

Image
Oh yeah, Futurama is back and as good as ever! It's been a while since the series was taken off the air and the box set can only last so long before you don't feel like going through the 4 seasons, again. As much as I'd like to pre-order the DVD, Play.com, amazon.co.uk or any other Region 2 supplier doesn't seem to have it or even a date for a UK release. Amazon have a good deal on with the 15 disc, 4 seasons box set at just under £41 (click image for details), but other than that, nothing in relation to the release of Futurama: Benders Big Score. The film rocks and as it's already available on the net, they may want to hurry up with it's release before the inevitable happens...

Let there be snow

Image
This post-per-day thing seems to be ok as I can usually find at least one thing to blog about, some days I have an extra thing that I want to blog, but leave them until the next day, like this post. Yesterday, I was going to post about how we had some snow the other day, but since it would have broken the flow, I left it till today. Around an inch of snow fell and by the next night, it was gone. Possibly a taster of more to come this Xmas, but I wouldn't hold my breath since it's been a while that we had a good, proper snowfall that lasted more than a week.

Sony release dusty PS3 pics

Image
Oh my .... is the guy that expected Sony to repair his PlayStation 3 an idiot? Is he seriously vision impaired or something? Who did he think he was kidding when he claimed his PS3 wasn't as dusty as Sony said it was? Apparently, although dust isn't a direct cause of the voiding of the warranty, it falls under neglect which is covered in the terms and conditions. For example, in the Nintendo Wii System Setup manual on page 40 (UK version), in the exclusions it says; • defects in the Product that are caused by accidental damage, you and/or any third party's negligence , unreasonable use.... I imagine it also says that in the PS3 manual/documents somewhere, maybe he should take a look. Because of failing to maintain a certain degree of cleanliness of the 'Product', it's not covered by the warranty, so to put it bluntly, shut the fuck up and keep your shit clean.

Katie Melua nude

Someone searched for 'katie melua nude' and my blog must have appeared in the results due to me posting about her in the past. As for nude photo's, sorry, that's just something we'll all have to keep dreaming about. Mmmmm, Katie Melua.....

A Wii shortage

Nintendo are going to lose Xmas. You'd think that by now, there would be 1000's of Wii's on their way to stores ready to be plonked up on the shelves to be sold to the awaiting public ... no. DS's are plentiful and you can get one pretty much everywhere, but if you're after a Wii, you'll be lucky to get one before Xmas. Many will be making a big profit on eBay because of the lack of retail units since it's hard to find anywhere that has them in stock. It's bad that they can't supply the demand, meaning that people will either opt for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and with the way shop staff are trained, they'll be trying to push the PS3 onto people which doesn't have many good games instead of the Xbox 360. In my personal opinion, the Xbox 360 would be a better choice since it already has a mass catalogue of games that include the almighty Halo 3, Crackdown, Dead Rising, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage and the long awaited Assassin's Creed. It a...

A new addiction

Hello, my name is aceman, I'm addicted to Guitar Hero II. I really haven't done much else the last few days except play Guitar Hero II, I have games to review and haven't played them due to it taking over. I should really stop and get on with other things, but I just can't leave it alone for more than 10 minutes before putting the strap around my neck and belting out a few tunes. Now, back to it...

What to blog

I usually find at least one thing to blog about per day, but I've been playing so much Guitar Hero II that I haven't really been looking around the net or doing much else. I installed the graphics card, it's not the best card I could have bought and it's only roughly as good as an nVidia 6600, but since I'm not going to be playing any of the latest major games (except Football Manager 2008 and Championship Manager 2008, possibly others that don't need a major spec), it'll do for me. Not only that, I don't think a much higher card would run well on the 300W PSU, so it's better that I got something of below average spec. Because of now having 2GB of RAM and the X700 gfx card, I installed the rest of The Sims expansions ... except On Holiday (On Vacation for US) which I only found out when on the neighbourhood screen, so I'll try and install it without causing too much fuss, but I get the feeling that because it wasn't installed in order, it...

My big package

Image
Oh yeah, it rocks! At around 2:15pm, a bit red Parcel Force van pulled up with my rather large package of which the almighty Guitar Hero II was inside. I couldn't believe how big the box was, the last game I bought which had a fairly big box was the Donkey Konga Pak which had the bongo's in, but this was way bigger. If I had the extra cash at the time, I probably would have gone for the Xbox 360 version which I could get for £15 more, but since it's coming up to Christmas and I'm still yet to buy the missus' presents, I settled for the PS2 version of which I'm not disappointed with. It's not as hard as it may seem once you get used to it, I'd been playing the X360 demo of Guitar Hero III using the control pad and using the guitar controller is a bit trickier than just pressing buttons. I'm just glad I managed to get the red Gibson SG controller instead of the standard boring black ... ROCK ON!

DSOrganize 3.1 released

I was going to post about this last night, but it would have spoilt my 'post-per-day' thing that I've accidentally stumbled upon here. I didn't realise until around the 5th or 6th that I'd made one post per day so far this month, so to keep up that momentum, here is today's post. DSOrganize 3.1 has been released. Fixes found in 3.1 Added support for attachment style downloads (usually download.php style). Added deflate and gzip encoding support to web browser. Added letter view mode to the picture viewer. Added optional click noise to keyboards. Added many more special character tags like è etc to web browser. Changed large font to Arial 13 from Century 16 to be more consistent. Fixed download filenames being badly named when longer filenames were downloaded beforehand. Fixed "Removing invalid lfn entry" error in FAT after deleting a file. Fixed "Invalid file size on entry" error in FAT after creating a new empty file. Fixed "...

Graphics Hero

Image
Found a bargain on the HotUKDeals forums for a graphics card that will do for me, an ATi Radeon X700 for £16.43 ($34.33USD, €23.40EUR). Although I don't have Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 and therefore, no guitar controller, I downloaded the Guitar Hero III demo anyway and got rather hooked on it, so I've also ordered the PS2 version of Guitar Hero II with guitar controller which was fairly cheap (cheapest on the net after quite a search). I have to use the pad to play the demo, but it's not that bad and I'm fairly good at the songs on easy, medium is a bit harder due to needing to use the blue fret and it gets a bit confusing, I like it though and I might even get GHIII for the PS2!

RAM alama ding dong

Installed the 2GB of RAM I ordered from the Crucial website today and wow, it feels strange having so much RAM, I don't know what to do! I've been able to play a few games better due to having surplus RAM, such as Football Manager 2008, I was just able to play it before with just the 512MB I had (-64MB on board graphics -200MB system resources = 246MB of usable RAM), but now I don't have to worry. I tried Joost and couldn't see the point in it, there was nothing I wanted to watch on there, so that got uninstalled after an hour (I tried watching a bit of [Adult Swim], but there isn't much on there). I tried the Channel 4 4oD (4 on Demand) thing, that's not bad, I like the way it can stream, unlike the BBC iPlayer which isn't really a player at all. I was able to catch up with Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares of which I'd missed the first 2 episodes of the new series, but there doesn't seem to be any previous episodes of My Name Is Earl on 4oD. The ...

Non-working ROMs

It appears that there are at least 2 DS ROMs that need the 'arm-7 fix', what that does is patch the ROM to enable you to play it. I won't discuss which ROMs need patching as it's obvious that they're illegal copyrighted ROMs and I won't (or even can't) help you with any of the procedure, I'm just passing on information. From loathsome in the GBAtemp forums: THE ARM7-FIX What? A few dumped roms today comes with a new kind of protection, commonly referred to as the "arm7-protection". If you try to load a protected rom on some flash carts (R4, DS-X, G6 etc.), you will receive an error that tells you that something went wrong with your save file (or equivalent) and you will not be able to play the dumped rom. In this thread, you'll learn how to crack these roms by yourself, bypassing this protection. If your game won't start and gives you an error message about saving data, you most likely need the arm7-fix. A hacked arm7.bin file can be d...

The bargain post

Imaginative title eh! I didn't know what to make today's post about, so I'll just mention that I managed to order 2GB of Crucial RAM for a bargain price of £32.89 ($69.03USD/€47.20EUR), that should help run the few games I play better until I get a graphics card that won't strain the 300W PSU. Another bargain was to be had in the form of 15 Horrid Henry books for £14.99 ($31.47USD/€21.51EUR) from Red House where there's a good selection of books for kids of between 6 months and 16 years old. The kids like to watch Horrid Henry on TV and youngest daughter recently brought home one of the books from the school library, so I think they'll enjoy having their own books to read through. In other recent discoveries, I found out that Alter Bridge released a 2nd album of which totally rocks and Puddle of Mudd have released a 3rd album which although I've listened through once, I was kinda in and out of the room and so didn't really listen to it properly. Now I...

You sick perverts

I thought I'd have a look through the search terms people use to find stuff on my blog and I know this will probably attract more sick fucks here due to having to mention the term, but a couple of hits came from someone searching for 'nude pre-teens'. The only nudes featured on this blog are definitely not under 18 and I'll never post any such image. The only time I'll even mention 'them' is when talking about perverted paedophiles that search for such obscene stuff. So, for any paedo's (or pedo's for US people), get a life and find someone of legal age.

Half-Life in 60 seconds

It seems the latest thing going around the net is an animation video of Half-Life and HL² in 60 seconds, enjoy.

Rominator

I've been meaning to post about this before, it's an application for keeping your ROMs in order by downloading information such as the packshot, ROM number, Cartridge code and Release group and renaming them to keep them in numerical order. Other features include a Save Manager, ROM Validator and a handy ROM Trimmer to keep filesizes down for you to fit more onto your R4/M3/whatever. I'd just like to say I don't condone the illegal downloading of commercially copyrighted ROMs, so I won't provide links as to where you can get them, but I'm not so ignorant as to know it goes on. Anyway, if you'd like to get Rominator and try it out, you can download it here .

'Wonder'ful Bones

Image
Warning for UK viewers and fans of the TV series, Bones ... *SPOILER* Oh, wow! Emily Deschanel looked so hot as Wonder Woman in the latest episode of Bones. I wasn't that much of a fan of the program since I only started watching at the start of the 2nd season (I'm still yet to watch the 1st season on DVD that I bought the wife last Xmas), but even from then, I've thought of Ms Deschanel as a babe. It's a shame that this Halloween episode probably won't get shown in the UK until next year (it starts on Sky One on Nov 8th) since this latest episode is number 5 of season 3 and we'll be lucky if they manage 4 before the Xmas schedule kicks in. Then again, it means this episode should air on December 6th as the US will air the 10th episode that week (if the seasonal break hasn't kicked in). Anyway, the main reason for this post is that Dr Brennan (Emily Deschanel) looks totally hot. That is all!

DSOrganize 3.05 released

Once again, the homebrew program with a load of great features has been updated. Fixes found in 3.05 Added extra checking to the image parser code to hopefully stop more freezes. Added back in ability to create lowercase filenames that are short. Added bad file check to gba_nds_fat so corrupt files shouldn't freeze DSO anymore. Added ability to download files on web browser. Added auto-hide setting to web browser. Changed default progress color on web browser to be more visible. Changed all audio formats that read on interrupt to read from a buffer. OGG, AAC, M4A files play faster now. OGG, AAC, M4A, MP3 files more stable. Fixed a bug in the downloader code that added garbage extensions to some images, making sites crash. Fixed a bug in the mp3 player that detected some stereo songs as mono, decreasing the quality. Fixed directory sort order bug. Fixed bug where sites using <script src="file" /> notation would not render. Fixed a few buffer overflows in we...
