The Wiivolution has began

So let it be known, I have succumb to the powers of the Wii and have gone and bought one. I was going to get one sooner or later, but when the missus said that she had been in a few shops to ask about it, I wasn't that bothered that nobody had any stock. That was until she had been into town yesterday and had walked past GAME, where the manager spotted her and waved her into the shop to let her know they had gotten 6 in stock. As stock pretty much everywhere is low or non-existant, that was when I said to get one. As usual, the kids have given me their cold, they so like to share their germs with me and as it's the first day of this cold, I was feeling quite shitty. After having a go with the Wii, setting it all up and getting it online, then having a go at Wii Sports and Wii Play, it's made me feel somewhat better and especially the Billiards game in Wii Play. I like pool games and this one is so addictive, if they brought out a game like it or like the Xbox Live Arcade ga...

Insane in the Upgrade

Once again, WordPress has been updated and now it's at 2.1, two updates in a month... One of the improvements I like is the ability to change between WYSIWYG and Code in the 'Write' bit, that makes it easier to use the YouTube plugin as it needs to be used in the 'Code' editor. Anyway, it's all been updated, even though I had a bit of trouble that didn't take long to fix.

Bloggity bloggity blog

There are so many blogging clients out there and even a handful of decent hosts, it's so easy to choose one and start telling the rest of the internet your thoughts, opinions and whatever. I've been doing 'blogging' for years, when I used to have my little personal site (kinda like the main one here ), I would update it around once or twice a week and put an 'update post' on the main page, that was in 2001-2002, just before the blogging scene appeared. Now it's gone crazy, not only do people use the blogging client for a blog, but with clients like WordPress, they're used for full sites too. In the sidebar on the right, there's a 'Blogroll' with links to other blogs, they include a couple from real people, but it seems I'm starting to gain a few more of my own. In December 2005, Windows Live was starting to become a bit more noticed and that has a thing called Windows Live Spaces, that was when I took a look and set this up just to see w...

Yay, more upgrading!

What has only been 11 days since the last upgrade, WordPress has had to have a security update that fixes a php bug, so the hamsters have gradually had their booster shots and are up to date. I couldn't work out why I couldn't connect to da intarweb directly, get emails and use FTP with the wireless router, turns out I needed to 'network' the PC, even though it's the only PC running (it's using a wired connection to the router, same with the X360). The X360 works fine and I've already downloaded a couple of demos and a few XBLA games (trial versions), although, I've had to change my tag to MentalAceman due to being a knob and creating the tag online. That meant that, when I connected to Xbox Live, it would download the new profile that didn't have the (very little) Gamerpoints and Achievements I originally had, never mind though, it's a name I also use on YouTube... Anyhoo, it all seems fine and dandy now and the connection to Xbox Live is somet...

New stuff ahoy!

I like getting stuff that I want (see ' So What Did You Get Then? ' post for alternative view), so if you're the same way, you'll know how I felt when the Nightmare On Elm Street boxset was finally delivered this morning. Another thing that makes it even sweeter is that it only cost £8.99 from HMV, it's now gone up to £17.99 .Another thing that arrived today is the free wireless router from Blueyonder and it seems that you can use wired connections with it as well as it being wireless. That's better for me since I didn't fancy buying wifi network cards or USB adapters and mainly wanted it for my DS and PSP and I can (or should be able to) connect my Xbox 360 to it. I won't know until I try, but the thing is, there are 4 LAN ports on the back, this leads me to believe that up to 4 things can be connected with cables and so the cabled connection I wanted to have with the PC and Xbox 360 seems to be possible. Stuff that should arrive tomorrow: the first fou...

Celeb Big Brother, why bother?

If you've had the displeasure of watching the latest "Celebrity" Big Brother, you'll know that the once favourite to win, Leo Sayer, has walked out due to a lack of underwear. According to it, he requested some clean underwear from Big Brother as he was down to his last couple of pairs, but because he couldn't wait another day, he decided to leave. Donny Tourette, the nobody punk rocker from a seldom heard of band Towers of London was the first to walk out due to the prospect of being a servant to the still pig-ugly Jade Goody and her 'family'. If that wasn't bad enough, her greaseball of a boyfriend and her butch lesbo mother were the rest of the 'family' that the other celebs were supposed to serve. After I think about 2 days of butch mothers tongue, eccentric old ex-director Ken Russell had had enough and also wanted out. As mentioned elsewhere on the net, you can't deny that the entry of the 'Goody' family has caused some frict...

Upgrading

Time for a bit of a moan and general blog type stuff. Wordpress has been updated to 2.0.6 and so the hamsters that generate this site have been genetically modified to keep up, although, I think they tried to go on strike earlier and would let me upgrade. I was doing the standard backup routine as recommended by WordPress and as I was downloading, the FTP decided to kaput on me. This lead to a bit of frustration and even the installing of the Firefox mod FireFTP in a bid to see if it was just Core FTP Lite fucking up on me again. It's a great FTP program and I thought it was b0rking on me, but it seems that the Mental Gamers FTP was to blame, we have a brilliant host and have only suffered a minor problem before, but the server doesn't seem to like FTP very much. Anyway, all done now and so can carry on with life... Game-wise, I haven't played on a console for around a month, I've been playing some old DOS games via DOSbox, but there are a few that still run sluggish...
